Simon

Autor:  life-says-hello
Hello, folks.^^

I sat down and started to write a story since I was too lazy to interprete something. You surley know that lazyness is no good at all, do you not?
Yeah, I got to learn this now too. Writing a story was harder, took longer and is not even finished by now.>D" In addition to this my shoulder is hurting again since my writing position is rather cruel for it.^^""
Anyway I wrote my text for today and I have a story I can continue. Maybe you will read it along maybe you will not. As for me I will turn to things I am better at now. Drawing for example.xD

So, enjoy the first chapter(?) of "Simon". By the way the character's name and the name of the story were given without any special purpose. I am no good with names.>D

It was cold. Harsh winds pushed snow against the walls of my house and into my face. My lips had already begun to turn blue despite the fact that I had opened my door just a few moments ago.
In the middle of the night I had awaken to the constant ringing of my door bell. All sleepy and confused I had gone down wondering who would come to my lonley house at this time. Thanks to the icey temperature I was fully awake now and busily cursing winter.

Still, no matter how cold I felt the guy I was facing now had to feel a thousand times colder. If he still felt anything at all.
His head and body was smugged in snow, the white substance seemed to be smothered all over him. He must have rung my bell. As he spoke his voice was barley a whisper I was not able to hear through the wind’s howls.

“Sorry?”, shouting at freezing strangers might not be polite but I wanted him to understand what I was saying, “ I didn’t get what you were sayin’. I’ll simply take you inside with me, okay?” Without waiting for an answer I grabbed his hand and pulled him in. I could not endure this winds and snowflakes anymore and he could not either for sure.

After I had closed the door I became completly aware of how cold the stranger’s body was. His hand which I was still holding in mine did not seem to consist of flesh but rather pure ice. I could as well hold a piece of the nearby, frozen lake’s surface.
Quickly I let go of what did not appear to be human anymore. I wondered how the man managed to stay alive and make his way down to my house in this bad conditions. Or from how far away he came to my home. I forgot about the fact that he had disturbed my peaceful sleep and started worrying.

“Man, you’re more a snowman than anythin’ else. What the hell happend to you? Wait, I’ll get you somethin’ warm...”

Again I did not wait for an answer. Instead I hurried off to fetch towles, fresh clothes and a blanket. I guess it’s a bad habit of mine but I cannot help it. Not as if it mattered this time: the stranger did not say anything. He did not say anything when I rubbed off all the snow and recoverd that his hair was of a gentle wallnut tone. He even did not say anything as I carefully took of his clothes, and while helping him into the new ones, assuming from his stature that he must do some kind of sport.
In fact he kept silent until I pointed him towards my couch laying a colorfull cotton blanket around his shoulders.

“Sit down, okay? What do you prefere: tea or warm milk?”

“...tea...”

Both his voice and body shaking he slowly sunk onto the comfortable but old furniture which quietly sighed under his weight. His eyes had an absent touch, I noticed when I returned from my small kitchen, a pott of tea in my hands.
“Here we go, will you be able to hold it on your own?”, I asked with an sceptical glance on his still heavily quivering fingers, “It’s really hot too...”
The stranger slightly lifted his head and his eyes tried to focus on me. Obviously he had problems speaking and thinking. I did not wonder about this. I would have too if I had been almost frozen.
After a little while he manged not to talk to me but to give me a faint shrug and then a shake of his head. Afterwards he lowered his eyes, starring at the wooden floor. Refering to his last reaction I gently placed the tea on the little table in front of the couch and sat down beside him. I decided to leave him alone with questions for tonight.
Of course I was curious about what happend and it might not be wise to allow a complete stranger to stay at your house for the night but this young man did not seem to be a danger. In worst case I was in danger of being infected by the bad cold he surley would get. But that was all. Plus he would not have been able to explain anything to me anyway. So I joined his silence for a while.

“We should dry your hair while waiting for the tea to cool down a little.”

I went to the bathroom and fetched a hair-dryer my mum once forgot at my house after she had come up all the way from the South. It was of a strange rosé.
Nevertheless right now I was glad I did not throw it away the week before when I thought I could not stand this color anymore.
For ten minutes I was busy with my guest’s hair which was surprisingly pleasant when not hanging down all soaked and wet. Although it made him appear younger and more childish than he probably was.

“What’s your name?”

“...Simon.”

“Okay, Simon, I suggest I’ll leave you here with the tea and after you drank it you’ll go to sleep as I’ll do now. We’ll save up all my questions for tomorrow. You’re fine with this too?”

He nodded.

“Great. Take the other two blankets over there for the night, will you? I’ll turn on the heater too “, while talking I threw over the blankets and reached for the heater’s handle, “If you need anythin’ I’m sure you will manage to wake me up a second time. I’d be greatful if it wasn’t before nine o’clock though...”

Simon did not react to this and I left the room with a “Good night” heading for my warm bed.
So now I had a mysterious guest called Simon, last name unknow. Great.
I yawned all sleepy again and let myself drop into the soft pillows on my bed. Pulling my blanket close around me I wondered why Simon’s clothes had been such wet. This had been unusal even taking all the snow into account.

However this doubts only lasted a few minutes before sweet and gentle sleep took over control and led my thoughts to other, less complicated dimensions.
