"You won't take my life, you damn thing!" - A scene from moldavian fairy tale "Laur-Balaur and the three princesses". Laur-Balaur, a terrible dragon, lures three beautiful princesses one after another into his black castle. It stands in black woods, where the sun shines in bloody red, like it was stained with blood. The girls are free to wander throgh the castle, but are forbidden to open one door. Once a girl opens it, Laur-Balaur's golden apple dips into a cup filled with blood, and it is impossible but for the dragon to remove the stains. Every time he comes home from hunting he looks on the apple, and if it s bloody, he kills the poor girl. The youngest princess gets warned by a bird to always keep the golden apple and to never let it go, so she escapes the fate. She even manages to revive her sisters and send them back home, then to escape herself. Laur-Balaur, infuriated, destroys the golden apple and his castle crumbles. He tries to kidnap the princesses again by force, but is killed by king's soldiers and thrown into Black Sea. Done in watercolour and white gel pen in November 2014. Wunderschön,
das Tor ist so detailreich! was für eine heiden Arbeit ! :)
Das Märchen kenne ich...jedenfalls so ähnlich, das Bild ist jedenfalls fantastisch.
Es könnte direkt aus einem alten Märchenbuch stammen.
