Why yes, I do in fact have no life. :D Long story short, I was up one night and this idea suddenly came into my head about 1 AM, so I sketched ideas for all of the girls and then set to work drawing chibis of all of them, and then setting out to come up with alliterative names beginning with the starting letters of each girls' colour scheme. Their brooches are meant to be simplified representations of a palette with paint blotches (although they look more like Xs or butterflies) on them for the seven colours of the rainbow (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet). There is no real story for these girls (please feel free to come up with one!), although TavalyaRa did help suggest who the enemies of these girls would be. Perhaps next I'll plan them out: Pure White and Pitch Black. Pepper Pyne - Sailor Primary Represented by red, blue, and yellow. Her personality (and name) are a little inspired by Pepper from the computer game Pepper's Adventures in Time. Summer Sullivan - Sailor Secondary Represented by green, orange, and violet. Best friend to Pepper. Taylor and Tammy Thompson - Sailor Tertiary Since there are 6 main colours in the tertiary colour scheme (red-violet, red-orange, yellow-orange, yellow-green, blue-green, and blue-violet) I decided to split the colours between two twin sisters. And no they are most definitely not future children of any of the girls. (I don't need to reuse the Chibiusa plot point.) Alice Applegate - Sailor Analogous Represented by orange, yellow-orange, and orange. Alice was the first girl I sketched that one night. Her reaction to this is pretty much the same as mine originally, "Why sailor soldiers themed around colour theory?" (My later response was "Why not?") The series (?) of images around this colour theory concept of mine are collectively referred to as "Alice Analogous". (Mainly because it rolls off the tongue easily.) Nadia Naumova - Sailor Neutral Represented by black, the grays, and white. Nadia I decided comes from Russia, and from what I've established she's a pretty quiet girl, probably most similar in personality to Sailor Mercury. She's best friends with Alice. Cora Carter - Sailor Complementary Represented by blue, orange, and gray. Cora is the tomboy of the group and not afraid to get messy fighting bad guy butt...whoever the "bad guys" are that is. (The enemy is...mismatched colours?) Melody Mehta - Sailor Monochromatic Represented by pink, its shades, and its highlights. When choosing the colour for the monochromatic scheme I immediately chose pink since it wouldn't be used for any other girl. The end result is a bubbly, cheery girl who seems to be channeling the spirit of Pinkie Pie. Camille Chartier - Sailor Cool Represented by green, blue, and violet. For some reason after drawing Camille I decided to make her come from a French family. Best friends with Winnie. Winifred (Winnie) Williams - Sailor Warm Represented by red, orange, and yellow. After drawing Winnie and Camille I decided they looked the most mature of the bunch so they needed names not only that began with their colour schemes but also suited their appearance. As you might guess, "W" girl names aren't fairly common, so Winifred was chosen, but since it sounds so stuffy she ended up with the cutesy nickname "Winnie". Best friends with Camille. |
