Wanna know why I haven’t continued it? Now you know. Someone on FF.net dug out that pretty old fic I started writing in 2006 and have overthrown and edited it multiple times but never really made it a real thing. And the biggest reason isn’t Kaito or Mizael - it is basically since I’ve finished watching Zexal and did a lot of research again, that SotNW and Zexal have too much in common. Which is kinda… funny I guess. I wrote the rough concept down when I was 13 (that was 7!!! years ago). And that rough concept never really changed, it was always the fine tuning, character design etc. what changed over time. When I was 13 I already planned the concept about Light and Time which will fight - just to find trust in each other and then will work hand in hand to destroy the corrupt system behind the ‘Dawn of the Divine’. With one of them giving their life to be reborn. The last word, by the way, was optional. However, it is literally the same thing as Zexal ep. 134-135 and I don’t know if I should laugh or cry about it. SotNW is a GX fanfiction. And it will only work with the GX characters. I doubt that this fic would ever work with my beloved Zexal characters because of the simple fact that the concept of SotNW is literally an ‘ancient saga’ which could have formed things which later happen in Zexal? Probably. You can see it however you want - I just gave up with this fic making any sense with the other spin-offs since I can’t be assed to finish watching 5D’s for several reasons nor would make SotNW any sense with ARCV’s canon at all. So, what is the message behind this picture? As Mizael’s and Kaito’s Galaxy-Eyes represent Time and Light and their whole story I connect them there a lot with the story about Ryou Marufuji and Jun Manjoume in SotNW. The fun fact here is, that characterwise Kaito is more like Ryou and Mizael (at least a bit) like Manjoume. However, Ryou represents Time (Tachyon = Mizael) and Manjoume Light (Photon = Kaito). I am still laughing like an idiot over this.I should add that Manjoume’s character development in SotNW made him more like his Manga-self rather than that anime dork. Time and Light never got along. So didn’t Ryou and Manjoume, but destiny decided making them more important this time rather than Juudai (who was Manjoume’s counterpart there haha RIVALSHIPPING INTENSIFIES) and they had to fight and in hand, had to learn to deal with each other. Their emotional connection is not even in the slightest like Mizael’s with Kaito’s. Not even platonic. It was a simple ‘We have to go through this together, no matter what’. It didn’t end well. Through Ryou trying to protect someone who was their enemy which they couldn’t change anymore, there was no other choice. Manjoume didn’t want to do it, he completely understood Ryou’s reaction. But - he had to kill him*. Light had to extinct Time. In Zexal it was Time destroying Light. So… I just had to draw this. Mizael representing Tachyon/Time but in Manjoume’s role - while not wearing even Manjoume’s outfit, he is wearing “Ryou’s” (another spoiler: For those who know them can recognise that I am talking here about Narçziss/Ryouko). Kaito representing Light/Photon (=innocence in sotnw tbh) - wearing the last outfit I designed for Manjoume later haha - but in Ryou’s role. Do I even make sense here idk haha. My definition of a World without Time and Light would be an eternal Nightmare. Because there is no back and forth, one is trapped at a position and there is nothing but darkness. And nothing can be changed. Thus it is nearly the main arc of sotnw. It’s climax was supposed to be in the first part (of three parts btw), but thinking about that, it’s real climax would happen in the third and last one. But only if I really continue working on this fanfiction. I mean, I love SotNW. It’s my baby and all but - this thing here bugs me so much that I’ve dropped it. Because I can imagine people will talk bullshit about it, being ‘Zexal just with GX characters’ or not even ‘original’. Which it apparently is though - because that story developed without Zexal. It has only 2 (!!) influences: XYZ-Summon and Astral World. And that’s it. And that Astral World has literally nothing in common with the World from Zexal. Because the Dawn of the Divine has nothing in common with a system you want to be involved with. *Little big spoiler: Manjoume killed Ryou but he isn’t dead at all. /D |
